“Working in the field of Trauma can be a stressful and sometimes overwhelming occupation.
We engaged James for a Workplace Wellness Workshop to promote self-care amongst our staff.
James delivered a full one hour workshop titled
“The Vital Five”
This was an immersive and interactive session that involved many aspects of mindfulness including breathing, nutrition, nature, movement, gratitude, and forgiveness.
He even got us up and dancing! Some were initially resistant but soon warmed to the challenge and before long we were all engaged, smiling and even laughing our heads of-what a great release of pent up emotions.
We finished off the session with meditation which was a wonderfully calming and centering experience.
Our team members thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have reported such outcomes as positivity, increased energy and more ability to focus when needed.
We are in the process of our 30 day vital five challenge and we are enjoying the positive benefits day by day.
Subsequent to the session with Trauma Service, our colleagues in the Emergency Department and the Early Pregnancy Assessment and Management Service (again very stressfully and emotive workplaces) heard about our experiences and were eager to try “The Vital Five” for their own respective teams.
Each session had its own unique dynamic but all emerged from these journeys in a more relaxed, happier and more positive mindset.
We have all found these sessions to be a wonderful team-building and strengthening exercise
